Communication

The Weekly Splash – This is a weekly newsletter published by the coaching staff.  Every swimmer will receive a Splash by Wednesday of each
week.  Important announcements about upcoming team events including practice times, upcoming meet information, board meeting
announcements along with swim meet reviews are in each week’s Splash.
File Folders – A hanging file folder for each family is located at the pool where the swimmer practices.  It is very important that each swimmer
check their folder every practice for The Weekly Splash, announcements, meet sign-up information, awards from swim meets, and other
information.

Board Meetings – Board meetings are held in January, April, July and October.  Parents are invited to attend any open board meeting.
Upcoming meeting information is published in the newsletter.  Board members represent CRAA parents and swimmers. They may be
contacted any time with questions and concerns (see listing of Board members).  Minutes from these meetings are mailed with each swimmer’s
monthly bills.

CRAA Website- CRAA has a website at www.craa.org.
Practice schedules, copies of The Weekly Splash and much more can be found at this site.

Coaching Staff – The coaches welcome any communication concerning your child.  Phone numbers and email addresses are listed on the last
page.

Your Swimmer – Your swimmer is vital to the communication process.  Please encourage them to check file folders frequently and to pass
along verbalized information.

The Handbook – This handbook is provided to answer your basic questions.  Please feel free to call your mentor, any Board member, or your
Coaches should you have questions or concerns.

Parental Support

Family support is essential to the success of your child’s swim experience.  Practice is just one aspect of your swimmer’s success.  With the
increased amount of commitment your child is making, parents need to encourage good sleeping and eating habits. Parents should also
support good “team habits” by fostering a positive attitude and cheering on teammates.  While your child may swim individual events, CRAA
swimmers are truly united in a team effort.  Remember to have FUN!

Families also offer support to their swimmer by becoming involved.  CRAA is fun for the whole family when parents, grandparents and siblings
participate in the meets.  CRAA hosts numerous meets throughout both seasons, and the success of these meets depends on your
involvement.  The CRAA Board of Directors encourages you to volunteer at the home meets in which your child is competing. Volunteer
opportunities include: timers, computer operators, runners, monitors, concessions, officiating, set up, clean up, etc.

Where do we go from Red/Black?

When your swimmer has advanced from the CRAA Red/Black level, he/she may join the Junior I practice group.  Workouts will increase in
challenge, intensity, and structure.  More practice opportunities are offered to the Junior I swimmer on a weekly basis.  Use of dryland exercises
is expanded.  Swimmers in Junior I are generally 8-14 years of age and possess a greater commitment to practice and competition. (See
Junior I group description.)  Please consult with your child’s coach regarding group advancement.

Where do we go from Juniors?

Swimmers in the Junior II group have the option within CRAA when they are ready to advance to the Senior practice group.  Swimmers must be
either 13 years old with some competitive experience or swimmers need to be ages 11 or 12 and approaching 13-14 “Q” times (see Senior I in
Group descriptions).  As always, please consult with your child’s coach regarding group advancement.
